Romney isn’t in charge of Bain Capital any longer, but he founded the company and has many friends there. As a candidate for president he can step in and use his bully pulpit to stop this recent outsourcing initiative by his old company and save over 100 jobs.

“Romney has played no part in Sensata Technologies Inc.’s decision to move its auto-sensor business to China. But he owns millions of dollars worth of Bain funds that hold a controlling stake in the Massachusetts-based company.
The planned closure of its plant in Freeport, Illinois, could create further headaches for Romney, who is struggling to divert attacks by President Barack Obama and his campaign that portray him as a job killer who does not understand ordinary Americans.”
“If he wanted to, all he needs to do is call up the management of Bain Capital and say, ‘Look, don’t do this,'” said Tom Gaulrapp, who has worked at the factory for 33 years.
The workers signed a petition pleading for Romney to step in and the city council also passed a motion encouraging him to do the same thing.
“Gov. Romney is not familiar with this issue and has not been involved in the management of Bain since 1999,” said Romney campaign spokesperson Amanda Henneberg.
Well now he knows! Now he can do something!
Romney could give himself a big boost in the polls and show himself to be a job saver who is willing to stop jobs from being outsourced to low wage countries, will he do it? I doubt it.
But ignoring this issue and pretending it doesn’t exist, could bring a big headache to a campaign that is struggling to gain support. This could be just as damaging to his campaign as his tax returns.
Finally, this is also a big chance for all Republicans who are so concerned about jobs to persuade Romney into doing the correct thing. Do I think they will step up? Not likely!
