House Republicans are so determined not to let the American people hear the truth about their bogus Benghazi scandal that they refused to allow a Hillary Clinton aide to testify publicly.

The House Benghazi Committee rejected a request from Cheryl Mills, Hillary Clinton’s former chief of staff at the State Department, to have her testimony occur in a public session later this week, a source close to Mills said.

Mills’ desire for open testimony — a request made because she fears Republicans will leak selected information that casts her in a negative light — is just the first disagreement in what’s likely to be a tense session Thursday, when she appears before the panel a day before Jake Sullivan, Clinton’s top policy guru, is also hauled in for questions

Why won’t Republicans let Hillary Clinton’s former Chief of Staff at the State Department testify in public? If the Benghazi scandal is as big as Republicans claim it is, it would be to their benefit to get as much of the story out to the public as possible.

The problem is that the Benghazi scandal is not a scandal. The Republican Benghazi conspiracy has been debunked by at least seven previous investigations. Cheryl Mills is right to be worried about Republicans leaking partial information.

Leaking half truths to the media is a key piece of the Republican Benghazi playbook. Republicans are trying to build a scandal, so they are trying to control the flow of information.

Republicans are afraid of the facts. In order to manipulate the truth, they deny witness requests to testify publicly. Cowardly Republicans are hiding from reality, and hoping that if they push their bogus scandal hard enough voters will believe the lies.
