A petition asking President Obama to appear on HBO’s Real Time With Bill Maher has quickly picked up more than 48,000 signatures since the campaign began.
On Real Time, Maher said that for his 60th birthday all he wanted was President Obama to appear on his show before he left office.
Video:
Maher pointed out that he has been inviting the President to appear on his show for seven years, but the invitations seem to have gotten lost in the mail. The Real Time host said that Obama has appeared on virtually every show, but his. Maher said, “You’ve done everything but Ultimate Fights and amateur porn. If you went any lower you’d be on Fox and Friends.”
Maher wants to either get Obama on his show or know why the President won’t appear on Real Time. To get answers, the show launched a petition on the White House’s We The People website.
The petition states, “Herewith, on the occasion of Bill Maher’s 60th birthday, we the people, especially viewers of Real Time with Bill Maher, respectfully request that President Obama appear on Real Time and thereby honor that particular audience (and their support for him), as he has so honored the viewers of so many other TV shows and media outlets; or if not, to please, respectfully, tell us why.”
The Obama White House, like most Democrats, tends to ignore more supportive than not media. It is no surprise that Obama has been interviewed more times by Bill O’Reilly than he has by Bill Maher. PoliticusUSA has been trying to get a moment or two with President Obama for six years, and we have gotten the same response as Maher. Silence.
We all know that the President can’t accept every request, but if the White House can find time for the President to sit down with some YouTube stars who 99% of the country has never heard of, the least they can do is give ten minutes to Bill Maher next time the President is on the West Coast.
