Read About Ivanka Trump's Plotting To Return To The White House On THE DAILY
Donald Trump has told the Republican Party that he doesn’t need to raise the money he promised them because his cable news interviews will get him elected to the White House.
Bloomberg Politics reported:
Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump distanced himself from his own fundraising estimate of $1 billion, refusing to commit to collecting even half that amount, and saying his campaign didn’t need much money to win the White House.
Trump, who has held just two major fundraising events since agreeing three weeks ago to help the party raise cash, said he would rely instead more on his own star power as a former reality-TV personality to earn free media, and has no specific goals for how much money his campaign needs.
There’s no reason to raise that,” Trump said about raising $1 billion. “I just don’t think I need nearly as much money as other people need because I get so much publicity. I get so many invitations to be on television. I get so many interviews, if I want them.”
Trump has decided that he doesn’t need to raise money. He thinks that he will be able to win the White House just by going on cable and network news and using free airtime. Donald Trump is wrong. He needs to build a campaign operation. He needs a communications staff. He needs organizers and field offices. He needs a real presidential campaign. Trump isn’t going to be able to win the White House just by sticking his mug all over the media.
The presumptive Republican nominee is treating the presidential election like a PR tour for the new season of The Apprentice. Presidential elections aren’t won on free media. Trump has made a crazy decision that could cost him his chance at the White House, but it could also cost the Republican Party control of the Senate, and countless other House, state, and local seats.
Trump’s deluded reliance on celebrity may end up giving everything to Democrats.
