A secret CIA assessment concluded that Russia and Wikileaks worked together to get Donald Trump elected president.
The Washington Post reported on a secret CIA assessment of Russia’s meddling in the presidential election:
Intelligence agencies have identified individuals with connections to the Russian government who provided WikiLeaks with thousands of hacked emails from the Democratic National Committee and others, including Hillary Clinton’s campaign chairman, according to U.S. officials. Those officials described the individuals as actors known to the intelligence community and part of a wider Russian operation to boost Trump and hurt Clinton’s chances.
“It is the assessment of the intelligence community that Russia’s goal here was to favor one candidate over the other, to help Trump get elected,” said a senior U.S. official briefed on an intelligence presentation made to U.S. senators. “That’s the consensus view.”
The report on the secret CIA assessment is another step towards the US government confirming that Russia interfered in the presidential election to help get Donald Trump elected. To anyone who has followed this story, the intelligence community’s conclusion comes as no surprise.
To the millions of voters who ignored a foreign actor’s interference in a US presidential election, I say congratulations. You got a Putin puppet elected president.
The Washington post story should add more volume to the calls for a Congressional investigation in Russia’s election interference. Russia and Wikileaks conspired, most likely with the Trump campaign, to distort democracy and get an unfit candidate elected to be the next president.
With each passing day, the proof is getting closer to the surface that something was very wrong with the presidential election between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump.
