Chuck Todd Exposed TrumpCare’s Biggest Lie With One Question To A Republican Senator

On MSNBC’s MTP Daily, Chuck Todd asked Republican Sen. Tom Barrasso (R-WY) about whether people would have less money for health care under the Republican Obamacare replacement and Barrasso’s answer highlighted one of the big lies that TrumpCare is built on.

Todd asked, “You say more access to it, but it may come with less dollars to buy it?”

Barrasso answered by exposing the level of fantasy behind the TrumpCare plan, “Well, if you are actually successful in lowering the cost of care, no one would need as many dollars to buy it.”

Todd followed up, “But, Senator, that’s a promise that seemed to be a reach when President Obama made it, and frankly when has any prediction that the cost of health care is going to go down based on some intervention by the government. When has that prediction ever come true?”

Barrasso collapsed into talking points, “That’s why I’m trying to get the decisions out of Washington and to the states. Get this out of government control and patient control. Let people at home make the decisions that’s best for them. And part of that is letting them by what works for them, and what they can afford.”

Chuck Todd later asked, “Are you going to be able to promise the American people it means that you can get more insurance at a lower cost?”

Barrasso answered, “Well, you can get insurance that’s better for you at a lower cost.”

That would be a no to Todd’s final question. People aren’t going to be able to get more insurance for a lower cost. Barrasso’s talking point about getting better insurance for you at a lower cost was gibberish that doesn’t promise more health insurance at an affordable rate to anyone.

The big fallacy behind the Republican plan to replace Obamacare is that Republicans think they can give people less money because health care costs are going to magically lower after the ACA is repealed.

The truth is that the average cost of premiums dropped after Obamacare was implemented.

The big lie is that people will need less money for health care after Obamacare is repealed. The facts are that the Republican plan is going to make health care more expensive and give people less money to pay for it.
