Republicans have railed for years against “Obamacare mandates,” but today they refused to allow states to opt out of TrumpCare.

The Republican Chair of the House Ways and Means Committee refused to allow a vote on an amendment by Rep. Mike Thompson (D-CA) that would have allowed states to opt out of TrumpCare.
The amendment stated, “A State may elect to construe Federal law as though as though the provisions of this Act (other than this section) and the amendments made by such provisions did not take effect and if such an election certified by the Governor of such State, the Federal Government shall treat such State (and individuals associated with such State) as though such previous provisions and such amendments did not take effect.”
In other words, Republicans are going to mandate that all states have to participate in TrumpCare. No state will be allowed to opt out and build their own system. A state can’t decide to ignore TrumpCare and design a universal coverage system for all of their citizens.
Everyone is going to be forced to participate in TrumpCare.
It only seems like last year when Republicans hated mandates related to health care, but now that they are in charge, they are mandating that everyone participate in TrumpCare.
The shoe is now on the other foot, and Republicans are kicking themselves in the backsides with it.
