Trump’s White House Is Already Making Up Crazy Excuses For Why Millions Will Lose Their Health Care

Trump administration officials hit the talk shows on Sunday and delivered some crazy excuses for why the CBO is expected to conclude that replacing Obamacare will take health care away from millions.

Trump OMB Director Mick Mulvaney tried to discredit the CBO and claimed that they were wasting their time trying to figure out the impact of Trumpcare.

During an interview on ABC’s This Week Mulvaney said, “The CBO said — if the CBO was right about Obamacare to begin with, there would be eight million more people on Obamacare today than there actually are. So I love the folks at the CBO. They work really hard. They do, but sometimes we ask them to do stuff they’re not capable of doing, and estimating the impact of a bill of this size probably isn’t the — isn’t the best use of their time.”

It is literally the job of the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) to estimate the impact of the bill, “Since 1975, CBO has produced independent analyses of budgetary and economic issues to support the Congressional budget process. Each year, the agency’s economists and budget analysts produce dozens of reports and hundreds of cost estimates for proposed legislation.”

Over on Meet The Press, Trump HHS Secretary Tom Price told people just to believe that they would be better off under Trumpcare.

Video of Price:

Price said, “I firmly believe that nobody will be worse off financially in the process that we’re going through, understanding that they’ll have choices that they can select the kinda coverage that they want for themselves and for their family, not the government forces them to buy. So there’s cost that needs to come down, and we believe we’re going to be able to do that through this system. There’s coverage that’s going to go up. Remember Chuck, there are 20 million folks right now in this nation who said to the federal government, “Phooey. I’ll pay a penalty or I’ll take a waiver. I’m not even going to get coverage in the system that we currently have.” That may be a system that works for government or insurance, but it doesn’t work for people.”

What proof does Price have that people will be better off? None. He just believes that they will be.

The Trump administration is trying to discredit the bad news before it arrives while also trying to encourage people to ignore the numbers and trust them with health care.

This White House has given the American people no reason to trust them, and the fact that are trying to preemptively discredit a report should give people even less of a reason trust them. The excuses and the reasons that the Trump White House is offering are crazy.

They deny facts while trying to make policy based on beliefs, as the first significant piece of legislation of the Trump presidency is being defended by a ball of crazy.
