Democratic Senate Leader Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) dropped the perfect response on Trump’s plan to hold Obamacare hostage to pay for the wall. Schumer’s office said that the US government takes care of Americans, and according to Trump, Mexico is supposed to pay for the wall.

Matt House, Schumer’s spokesman, said in a statement provided to PoliticusUSA, “The White House gambit to hold hostage health care for millions of Americans, in order to force American taxpayers to foot the bill for a wall that the President said would be paid for by Mexico is a complete non-starter. The U.S. government is supposed to take care of its citizens and, according to the President, Mexico is supposed to pay for the wall. If the administration would drop their 11th-hour demand for a wall that Democrats and a good number of Republicans oppose, Congressional leaders could quickly reach a deal.”
In other words, Trump can stick his plan to hold health care for tens of millions hostage to get his wall paid for where the sun doesn’t shine. Democrats and many Republicans are going to hold Trump to his campaign promise to make Mexico pay for the wall.
Mexico isn’t going to pay for the wall. Congress isn’t going to fund the wall, so there is going to be no wall. At least, not the kind of wall that Trump promised his supporters during the campaign. Maybe Trump supporters call all donate their empty Budweiser cans and build a beer can wall to cover the Southern border?
Democrats aren’t paying for the wall, and they won’t be ransomed by a failed casino owner turned president who views hostage taking as his only path to legislative success.
