CNN reported, “Fired FBI director James Comey plans to testify publicly in the Senate as early as next week to confirm bombshell accusations that President Donald Trump pressured him to end his investigation into a top Trump aide’s ties to Russia, a source close to the issue said Wednesday.”
One wonders if Comey would have been so eager to publically testify if the White House wouldn’t have mounted a smear campaign against the former FBI Director when they fired him. By smearing character of Comey, the Trump White House left him little choice but to testify in an open hearing and tell the world what he knows.
Comey has notes of his conversations with Trump. If his testimony backs up those notes, it will add fuel to the investigation into whether or not Donald Trump abused his presidential powers by the FBI’s investigation into Russia’s 2016 election interference.
Trump caused much of this damage himself with his mouth. James Comey has the power to confirm that Trump committed an impeachable act. The hammer could begin to fall on Trump in one week, as former FBI Director Comey will give Congress credible testimony about Trump’s personal attempts to obstruct the Russia investigation.
