The House Intelligence Committee is demanding that the White House turn over all recordings, memos, and communications with former FBI Director James Comey, as Donald Trump has officially had his tapes bluff called by the Russia investigation.

In a statement provided to PoltiicusUSA, Reps. Mike Conaway and Adam Schiff announced that they had sent letters requesting the Comey/Trump communications materials, “First, the Committee wrote to former Federal Bureau of Investigation Director James Comey to request any notes or memoranda in his possession memorializing discussions Comey had with President Trump. Second, the Committee wrote a letter to White House Counsel Don McGahn, requesting that he inform the Committee whether any White House recordings or memoranda of Comey’s conversations with President Trump now exist or have in the past. To the extent they exist now, the Committee’s letter asks that copies of such materials be produced to the Committee by June 23.”
The Committee wants Comey to turn over his notes, which as the former FBI Director has said is not a problem. The Committee also wants the White House to turn over any recordings that they have of the conversations between Comey and Trump, which may be a really big problem.
The request for the tapes came right after Trump bluffed at a Rose Garden press conference about the existence of tapes:
It is time for Trump to put up or shut up regarding recordings of his conversations with Comey.
Logic suggests that there are no White House recordings because if Trump had tapes that contradicted Comey’s notes, he would have released them as proof of his innocence. The fact that Trump has released nothing, but keeps making increasingly vague and crazy bluffs about tapes is a good indication that he’s got nothing.
Trump has two weeks to either release the tapes or tell the truth. Either way, this won’t end well for Donald Trump.
