The AP has the breaking news:
If the Trump campaign did acquire from or share data with the Russians, one would hope that they would be smart enough not to do this through their official data operation. However, I suspect that HBO’s John Oliver is correct. The Russia scandal is stupid Watergate. Since Trump himself has classified taking meetings with agents for the Russian government as opposition research, it would be shocking if the Trump did take any hacked data that the Russians offered.
The House Intelligence Committee wouldn’t be interested in speaking to Trump’s digital director unless they have something that gives that raises questions. The Trump campaign is clearly under investigation for potentially colluding with Russia during the 2016 election. As Donald Trump Jr.’s show, there is a paper trail. There is probably also a digital trail, which is why investigations want to talk to the person who was running the data operation that was set up by Trump’s son in law, Jared Kushner.
