Mitch McConnell Escalates His War With Trump By Declaring Most News Not Fake

Senate Majority Leader Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) took a big jab at Trump by stating that most news is not fake.

McConnell told the Lousiville Chamber of Commerce, “What I do every morning — there a couple of services I look at that gives me a synopsis of articles. It is my view that most news is not fake. But I do try to look at a variety of sources.”

Mitch McConnell has an 18% approval rating in Kentucky. He is less popular than Trump, and easily the most disliked politician the country, but it is impossible to imagine Speaker of the House Paul Ryan (R-WI) contradicting Trump in such a direct manner.

Senate Republicans don’t respect or fear Trump, and that lack concern over crossing the President was evident in McConnell’s comments. Trump has been trying to blame his failures on McConnell, who has been fighting back. The rocky relationship between the President and the Senate Majority Leader further complicates an already difficult path to legislative progress. If Trump keeps fighting with people like Mitch McConnell, Republicans will accomplish nothing in Trump’s first year.
