A neo-Nazi rally planned for September 16th in Eau Claire, Wisconsin has been canceled, according the Cory Klicko, a spokesperson for the National Socialist Movement organization who claims he quit the Nazi group in order to break away from anything that “may be perceived as negative”.
Read: Samuel Alito Is The Insurrectionist Threat To Democracy On The Supreme Court Saying the event was canceled “in part because of controversy surrounding it and what he said were threats against him and people close to him”, Klicko told the Leader-Telegram in an email that he has withdrawn his support from the neo-Nazi organization.
“After careful consideration and communications with positive people, I’ve decided to break away from anything that may be perceived as negative to myself, my family or the community. Racism and hate have no place in communities and we all need to move forward to better provide for our future.”

Klicko’s public denouncement of a group whose negative values he was more than familiar with prior to the public backlash against neo-Nazis supporting Donald Trump suggests that sunshine is the best disinfectant for hate.
People are happy to hate in private, but having to put their name out there as someone who supports Nazi ideology is another story. With the intense scrutiny of the media after a woman was murdered by neo-Nazi white supremacist in Charlottesville, Virginia and President Trump has repeatedly sided with the neo-Nazis and white supremacists, it’s not as easy to get away with such shameful behavior.
