When Trump was asked about the child tax credit, he said, “Just so you understand, the Democrats have done nothing in terms of children, in terms of child tax credit. We’re putting in a tremendous child tax credit. It is increasing on a daily basis.”
Millions of children are going to be losing their health insurance because Republicans have not reauthorized the CHIP program.
During the tax cut bill debate in the Senate, Sen. Orrin Hatch claimed that Republicans don’t have the money to fund CHIP, “[L]et me tell you something: we’re going to do CHIP. There’s no question about it in my mind. It’s got to be done the right way. But we, the reason CHIP’s having trouble is because we don’t have money anymore.”
Republicans found $1.5 trillion to cut taxes for the wealthy and corporations, but can’t find the money to make sure that 8 million low-income kids have access to healthcare.
Trump and the Republicans are harming children. The Democrats are fighting for programs that help kids survive and thrive.
The President’s claims are so out of touch with reality that it is the perfect example of why he is mentally unfit to continue and should be removed from office.
