Hate For Trump And Republican Tax Bill Grows Stronger As Vote Gets Nearer

The House will be voting on the widely hated Republican tax plan on Tuesday, and as the vote gets closer, the public’s disapproval for both the bill and President Trump get stronger.

A new poll by CNN has Trump making history with his low approval rating coming in at just 35% — lower than any president has gotten in their first year in office since Eisenhower. No other has managed to dip below a 49% approval rating so soon into their presidency.

The findings of CNN’s poll are consistent with those of others, including surveys conducted by respected polling companies like Gallup and Ipsos.

As for the GOP tax plan, disapproval for the bill has grown by a significant 10 points since November, with only 33% saying they’re on board with the proposal. Over half of Americans, 55%, oppose it.

The majority of the poll’s respondents said they view the bill as a measure that heavily favors the rich instead of the middle class, and nearly 40% said they’d be worse off if passes and Trump signs it into law.

At the moment, it looks like the GOP tax bill will pass, but the silver lining here is that its passing will likely hurt Republicans in 2018’s midterm elections.
