Trump Thinks The Government Shutdown Is A Democratic Conspiracy Against His Tax Cuts

Trump claimed that Democrats want a government shutdown to distract from his tax cuts for rich people.

Trump said, “The Democrats because of the tremendous success we’re having with the tax cuts and the tax reform, I mean, these gentlemen, they own this facility, and you look at what’s happening. They said, you know, it’s just the last six months we haven’t had anything like it. They almost can’t take any more work. When you look at that and you see what’s happening — and this is real America, the Democrats want to see a shutdown to get off the subject because this subject isn’t working for them. The tax cuts and tax reform has not been working well for the Democrats.”

Trump is voicing the strategy that he thinks will allow him to “win” a government shutdown. The reason for the government shutdown won’t be because Trump is the most incompetent president of our lifetimes or Republicans in Congress are dysfunctional and unfit to govern.

The reason for the shutdown, according to Trump, is going to be that Democrats are jealous of his tax cuts for the wealthy and corporations, so they are conspiring to change the subject to a government shutdown.

At a time when America needs a president to lead and avoid a government shutdown, Trump is cooking up delusional conspiracy theories to defend his tax cuts for the rich.
