Rep. Ted Lieu Just Blasted Ivanka Trump For Being A National Security Risk

Rep. Ted Lieu (D-CA) said Jared Kushner having his security clearance downgraded was a good first step, but he also called out Ivanka Trump for being a completely unqualified national security risk who is only a senior White House adviser due to nepotism.

Rep. Lieu said on MSNBC’s All In with Chris Hayes, “I’ve been asking for a long time, why does Jared Kushner still have a security clearance. Now I get to ask why does he have a downgraded clearance, but there are other people there such as Ivanka, Why should she have a security clearance? She has no qualifications to be a senior White House adviser. She has no foreign policy experience. Why was she communicating with the president of South Korea on some important North Korean issues? I have no understanding why that is happening other and nepotism.”

Ivanka Trump recently blocked Rep. Lieu on Twitter probably because he is asking questions about why someone who has zero qualifications is serving as senior advisor to the President, and Lieu has been raising questions about the hush money that was paid to Stormy Daniels.

Rep. Lieu was one hundred percent correct. Examples like what we are seeing with Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner are textbook examples of why we have good government laws and anti-nepotism laws. The President should not be able to fill critical White House advisory positions with his children. It sets up a conflict of interest, a national security threat, and it sows the seeds for incompetent governance.

It is going to take more than a Twitter to stop Ted Lieu from asking the questions that the Trump family doesn’t want to answer. It is not enough for Kushner to have his security clearance downgraded. He and his wife need to be removed from the White House because the president’s kids aren’t entitled to senior White House roles.
