Democrat Conor Lamb was declared the winner of the special congressional race in Pennsylvania’s 18th District on Wednesday, and given that the region supported Trump by a 20-point margin, Republicans are starting to realize that they have good reason to be nervous about midterm elections.

GOP Rep. Charlie Dent of Pennsylvania bluntly admitted this during an appearance on CNN’s “New Day.”
“I think most Republicans realize we’re running into a very serious headwind, a hurricane-force wind,” he said. “It’s coming, and we have to be ready for it. Some of our members in the marginal districts, the swing districts, are better prepared for these fights, frankly, than some members in safer seats.”
He added, “I tell you what, if you’re a Republican member in a pretty safe seat, like this one was, that’s where I’d be nervous because these members are not used to running in these types of competitive situations. The marginal swing districts, they know they’re in for a fight. It’s these guys in these safer seats. I think this is a wake-up call for them.”
And he’s right. Unfortunately for these Republicans, though, Democrats are proving to be extremely energized all over the country and the momentum doesn’t appear to be slowing down any time soon. Regardless of whether they choose to wake up or not, a lot of them will likely be unseated.
