Trump’s Refusal To Fire Scott Pruitt Shows The Lack Of Ethics That Will Bring Him Down

With EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt faces dozens of ethics violations, Trump is refusing to fire him, and it is this same lack of ethics and corruption that will be the undoing of his presidency.

The Wall Street Journal reported, “Though Mr. Kelly and other White House aides have concluded Mr. Pruitt should leave, the president is not ready to fire him, the official said. Mr. Trump welcomes the deregulatory measures taken by Mr. Pruitt and also values him as a strong advocate for the president’s agenda, this person said.”

Trump’s refusal to fire Pruitt indicates a deeper problem

The lack of ethics and corruption were built into the Trump presidency from the beginning. Trump never divested and separated his presidency from his businesses. Trump has been a walking conflict of interest since he took office. Former White House Ethics Chief Walter Schaub warned that Trump was using the presidency to profit off of his businesses.

Trump has been profiting from the presidency by billing government employees for staying at his properties that he forces them to stay at. Trump is being sued for violating the Emoluments Clause.

The Russia scandal is at heart a corruption scandal.

Trump won’t fire Pruitt because the EPA chief is an apple on the poisonous Trump tree. Presidents set the tone for their administrations, and the tone that Trump set was one of unethical greed and corruption.

It is the greed and corruption that overshadow everything that this administration and that same unethical mentality will be what eventually brings this president down. Trump may fall due to Russia, or a different scandal, but corruption is Trump’s fatal flaw and it will be what ends his presidency in disgrace.
