Rep. Ralph Norman (R-SC) showed up at a meeting with constituents and placed a loaded gun on the table in front of him in what was a clear intimidation tactic designed to silence those who are calling for gun law reform.

The Post and Courier reported, “A South Carolina Republican congressman is not backing down from critics after he pulled out his own personal — and loaded — .38-caliber Smith & Wesson handgun during a meeting with constituents Friday. U.S. Rep. Ralph Norman, R-Rock Hill, told The Post and Courier he pulled out the weapon and placed it on a table for several minutes in attempt to make a point that guns are only dangerous in the hands of criminals….Norman was speaking to constituents about gun violence during a public meeting at the Rock Hill Diner. The act drew immediate criticism from Democrats and others.
Wisconsin state Sen. Van Wanggaard showed up to a meeting with high school students who are concerned about gun violence with a loaded handgun on display on his person. This is the new Republican tactic to silence people who want gun control.
Republicans can’t debate and defend their stance on changing gun laws, so they are reduced to using thuggish intimidation tactics to try to quiet the opposition. Rep. Ralph Norman or any other NRA bot Republican member of Congress could easily be the next Gabby Giffords because a gun won’t help them if someone approaches them and shoots first at point blank range.
Former Rep. Giffords name should never be used to justify such reckless and irresponsible behavior with a gun.
Ralph Norman and other cowardly NRA Republicans will soon understand that the movement won’t be scared off by their overcompensating gun waving. NRA blood money can’t protect them from the change that is coming to kick down the door.
