Kellyanne Conway tried to discredit James Comey by repeating that he failed to answer basic questions. In reality, Comey was very detailed with his answers, but this is Trump’s fantasy, where he is strong and Comey is weak, but the real problem for Conway was that she lapsed back into arguing the 2016 election. She tried to blame Comey for being the only reason that Hillary Clinton lost. (Please, ignore that giant Russian bear in the corner of the Oval Office).
Conway contradicted herself by claiming that Comey didn’t influence the election because Hillary Clinton wasn’t over 50% support in swing states after October 20. CNN’s Chris Cuomo called out Conway’s false metric and stated that Clinton was doing better in swing states that Trump. Cuomo replied, “It’s about whether or not it hurt her. It certainly hurt her in terms of media exposure alone. If you think about it Comey hurt Clinton and helped Trump because he refused to disclose the probe on him. So he was quiet about trump and loud about Clinton.”
The important point to remember when talking about Comey and Clinton’s emails, this all goes back to Russia. The Russian hacked DNC and Clinton emails were intended to show that Hillary Clinton could not be trusted with top secret information. Trust was at the root of this strategy.
If you want to see how the Comey interview played in the White House, look at Kellyanne Conway. This White House looks exhausted. She had nothing to fight back with. Her spirit appeared to be trained. The Trump presidency looks like it is already on its last legs. After the Michael Cohen raid, and now the Comey interviews, it is all catching up to Trump, Conway, and the rest of the gang.
It has gotten so bad that even Kellyanne has nothing left for Donald Trump.
