Trump Just Called the Free Press ‘Our Country’s Biggest Enemy’

Donald Trump this morning went to Twitter to declare that we are now safe from nuclear war thanks to him, and the biggest enemy we have in this country is the news media that does not cover him fairly.

“So funny to watch the Fake News, especially NBC and CNN,” the president wrote. “They are fighting hard to downplay the deal with North Korea. 500 days ago they would have ‘begged’ for this deal-looked like war would break out. Our Country’s biggest enemy is the Fake News so easily promulgated by fools!”

But of course there is no real deal with North Korea that means anything.  It was a photo op and a meeting with no outcome but empty promises and a sell-out of our closest ally in the region.

Trump’s declaration that the news media is America’s “enemy” came just hours after he falsely stated that North Korea is “no longer a Nuclear Threat.”

“Just landed – a long trip, but everybody can now feel much safer than the day I took office. There is no longer a Nuclear Threat from North Korea. Meeting with Kim Jong Un was an interesting and very positive experience. North Korea has great potential for the future!”

Trump has previously declared the news media an “enemy” of the United States, which is exactly what is said by dictators around the world, most of whom Trump admires.  Just last year he said that networks that covered him critically were an “enemy of the people.”

Trump has caused a near-panic among Republicans in Washington because he promised Kim Jong Un that the U.S. would stop the military exercises with South Korea that had been held twice a year for several decades.  Trump’s promise was considered a major victory for North Korea, while the U.S. and its allies have received nothing but empty promises.

This morning he said that not only was stopping the “war games” a good financial move, but it was a great idea because North Korea is “negotiating in good faith.”

“We save a fortune by not doing war games, as long as we are negotiating in good faith – which both sides are!”

But there is no proof that Kim Jong Un is acting at all in good faith. He is one of the world’s worst dictators with a history of unbelievable cruelty and of never standing by promises he has made.

The fact that Trump is using Twitter to try to convince people otherwise is alarming enough, but for him to say we can trust the dictator and our true enemy is the free press is something that should send shudders through every patriotic American.
