O’Rourke was asked by MSNBC’s Chris Matthews about Trump’s attempts to drag him into the gutter.
He answered, “I just — I don’t see any benefit in engaging with him at that level. I’ll work with him, and we have. You know, he signed into law legislation that I worked with Republican colleagues to expand mental health care access. Worked on the defense bill with his administration. Really love the secretary of the V.A., David Shulkin, his former one. I’m getting to know the current one. There are places where we can find some common ground.”

O’Rourke also said that he is not running against Ted Cruz or any political party. He is running on the future.
Trump and Ted Cruz have been at war with the future. They are trying to hold back the progress of the nation. The future scares Republicans because they are predominately an older white male party in a nation that is becoming more diverse every single day. Beto O’Rourke is running the perfect campaign for Texas. Voters feel like the federal government under Trump and the Republicans aren’t listening to them. O’Rourke is running a campaign for the people.
Voters want candidates that are open to working with the other side. They are tired of the division and polarization. Candidates like Beto O’Rourke are the Trump GOP’s worst nightmare because they running against what Republicans stand for under Trump, and in the process uniting the country against the ugly politics of division.
