CBS News reported:

During the meeting, Mr. Trump also brought up the topic of impeachment, railing against calls by some Democrats to impeach him, according to a source familiar with the exchange.

“Why does everyone want to impeach me, Nancy?” Mr. Trump asked.

No one wants to impeach you, Pelosi told the president and tried to move the focus of the meeting back to border security.

Pelosi was right. No one WANTS to impeach Trump

For those who have forgotten or are too young to remember the Clinton impeachment, it is true that no one wants to impeach Trump unless the evidence takes them there. Congress and the presidency will be paralyzed if House moves to impeach Trump. Impeachment will consume everything in US politics.

House Democrats didn’t come to Washington to impeach Trump. If Trump does get impeached, it will be because he has committed impeachable offenses, and there is evidence of those crimes. Impeachment is not a partisan political tool, but it is impossible to believe that Trump doesn’t know why everyone wants to impeach him.

For starters, there are the potential crimes that he committed during the 2016 election. The felonies that he is linked to in the hush money payoffs to several women, and the obstruction of justice in firing former FBI Director James Comey.

Impeachment is not something that Democrats are looking forward to doing, but for Trump to claim that he doesn’t understand why he would be impeached is delusional.

Impeachment will only be avoided if Trump gets voted out of office first. If Trump isn’t voted out of office, impeachment feels inevitable, and Donald Trump knows exactly why.
