Trump Is Going To Declare A National Emergency To Build A Steel Wall

Trump spoke to reporters on Sunday afternoon and made it clear that he is heading toward declaring a national emergency to build his wall.

Trump said, “We’re looking at a national emergency because we have a national emergency. Just read the papers. We have a crisis at the border of drugs, of human beings being trafficked all over the world. They’re coming through, and we have an absolute crisis and of criminals and gang members coming through. It is national security. It’s a national emergency. We’ll be letting you know fairly soon.”

The president had no clue how the wall will be funded, “We have a lot of different ways. I’m not getting into that. We’looking at it strongly. Hopefully, we can do it this way. It’s going to be a steel border giving us great strength.”

CNN reported that Trump was inclined toward declaring a national emergency, “President Donald Trump is inclined to declare a national emergency to secure military funding for his long-promised southern border wall if talks between administration officials and top lawmakers from both parties continue to stall, a White House official told CNN on Saturday.”

Trump will be immediately sued if he tries to declare a national emergency to build his wall. Even Republican members of Congress have expressed doubt that Trump has the legal authority to move the funds to build his wall. Trump has been doing his best to gin up an emergency on the border, but what is happening now does not fit the definition of a national emergency.

Trump is going to abuse his executive powers, the House along with potentially state governments are going to sue, and his illegal gambit to build his wall will fail.
