CNN’s Jake Tapper cleverly pointed out Trump’s lack of moral standing on anti-Semitism with a control room “malfunction” that highlighted Trump’s anti-Semitic statements.
Video:
Tapper’s point was that Trump has no moral standing to be calling for the resignation of anyone. It didn’t take an expert researcher or frankly much digging to find Trump’s vast archive of engaging in Jewish stereotypes.
Jake Tapper played clips of Trump claiming that Jews are great negotiators, and are hagglers who try to control politicians. He also showed a deleted Trump tweet from 2016 where he played to the white supremacists, along with Trump’s claim that there were good people on both sides in Charlottesville. Tapper also showed the anti-Semitic tweet about George Soros that then-House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy tweeted during the 2018 midterm election.
Republicans don’t have a leg to stand on when it comes to denouncing racism or anti-Semitism. Republicans have no moral standing. Trump and his party have lowered the bar for political morality to such a degree that Gov. Ralph Northam of Virginia is likely going to be able to ride out the blackface scandal without having to leave office.
It is refreshing to see someone in the mainstream media calling out Trump, and not playing into the both sides do itism of modern corporate media coverage.
If anyone is going to resign for racism and anti-Semitism, Donald Trump should be the first to go.
