House Judiciary Committee Chairman Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY) accused Trump of stealing $150,000 in disaster relief intended for small businesses after 9/11.
Rep. Nadler said on CNN’s State Of The Union, “9/11 happened in my district. I know a lot of people who suffered from it. I was involved. I was instrumental in getting funding for small business, grants for victims of 9/11 for people with small businesses in the area. The president, he wasn’t president then, but Donald Trump actually took a $150,000 grant from the Bush administration. They let him take a $150,000 grant meant for small businessmen for 40 Wall Street. He stole $150,000 from some small business person who could have used it to help rehabilitate themselves, and that’s why I got, we got Congress to appropriate the money to use it for his own ‘small business’ at 40 Wall Street. He has no moral authority to be talking about 9/11.”

The Bush administration for all of their uses of 9/11 as a reason for every policy that they pushed, never used the attack to demonize Muslim-Americans. Former President Bush gave speeches where he separated the terrorists from those in the Muslim faith. Trump has trampled all of that distinction because he is getting desperate as his reelection campaign approaches.
Trump has a long history of lying about and profiting off of 9/11 The $150,000 that Trump took was supposed to be for clean up and repairs, but none of his buildings were damaged in the attack.
Donald Trump has no moral authority to talk about anything, but it is especially outrageous that robbed 9/11 victims and then uses the attack to whip up fear.
