Vice President Joe Biden formally entered the race for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination, and here are the three moments are sure to get under Trump’s skin
Biden said, “I believe history will look back on four years of this president and all he embraces as an aberrant moment in time, but if we give Donald Trump eight years in the White House, he will forever and fundamentally alter the character of this nation, who we are, and I can not stand by and watch that happen.”
The former vice president went straight for Trump’s biggest weakness. Voter distaste for Trump isn’t based on policies or the economy. The rejection of Trump is driven by this president’s lack of character, honesty, and values.
Trump made the 2016 election about Hillary Clinton. Joe Biden is making 2020 all about Donald Trump.
Nothing makes Trump crazier than suggesting that he is a fluke and that he must be erased from history, but that is what Biden did.

Former vice president Biden is doing something that no other Democratic contender has done yet. He is running against the dark cloud over the nation that has been created by Trump. Most of the Democratic candidates don’t mention Trump on the campaign trail. Biden is running specifically against this president. Joe Biden is taking on Trump’s hate, fear, and division. Biden is going straight to the heart of the problem, and it is fascinating to watch him make a general election argument in a primary campaign.
Trump thinks that he is America, but Biden offered a direct rejection of this president that is certain to cause a Trump Twitter blow up.
By talking about Charlottesville and Trump’s defense of white supremacists, Biden effectively linked to Trump to the sort of ugly racism and bigotry that is overwhelmingly rejected by the vast majority of Americans. Trump has used his presidency to cater to a small extremist base on the right. Biden used Trump’s refusal to be a president for every American to put Trump in a box and is already taking steps to limit Trump’s support to his existing base.
Joe Biden did a better job of defining Trump in one video than Hillary Clinton did in her entire campaign.
Trump likes to refer to his base as a Nixonian “silent majority.” Biden is shattering that myth and revealing the extreme minority that powers this presidency.
Biden’s video will certainly bruise Trump’s ego, but it goes to the heart of why so many Americans oppose this president.
