Here Is Why Trump Will Lose The Deutsche Bank Subpoena Lawsuit

Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) said that Trump would lose his lawsuit to block House subpoenas of his financial records because as president, he has no expectation of privacy.

Trump is suing to stop the turn over of his financial records

Rep. Khanna said on MSNBC, ‘I don’t think it is going to work. A court is going to look at this and say if President Trump was still a real estate developer, he would have a claim. But he’s now president of the United States. He just doesn’t have the same expectations of privacy, and he signed up for this. When he ran, he filed financial disclosure. So, he’s trying to have something that he is not entitled to as someone who is holding the highest office of the land.”

Trump is going to lose because he isn’t a private citizen

The lawsuit makes a version of the same argument that Trump is using to hide his tax returns, which is that Trump as a private citizen deserves an expectation of privacy and that turning over Trump’s information to Congress would put the privacy of every American at risk.

Donald Trump is not a private citizen. As president, he is not entitled to the same expectation of privacy as other people. Trump is also subject to congressional oversight as the head of the Executive Branch of the government. The lawsuit that Trump filed is not going to go very far, because the House is carefully targeting their subpoenas.

Screaming witchhunt is not a legal defense in the face of congressional oversight.

The stalling is endless with this president, this lawsuit will be shot down just like so many others during the Trump presidency.
