Rachel Maddow speculated on Monday that Donald Trump could be on the verge of losing another court challenge to keep his financial records from being released.

According to the MSNBC host, today’s decision by U.S. District Judge Amit Mehta that Trump’s accounting firm must turn over his financial documents to Congress is a bad sign for a similar court case currently pending.
“Basically, the exact same lawsuit was filed by the president against Deutsche Bank, to block the subpoena to them too, to stop Deutsche Bank from handing over his financial records as well,” Maddow said.
In other words, Monday’s ruling against Trump is a bad sign for that separate but nearly identical case in which he is trying to keep more of his financial records secret.
“Boom,” the MSNBC host said.

Maddow said:
Watch for the twin to this case. Because this lawsuit that the president just resoundingly lost tonight, this lawsuit was to block the subpoena to his accounting firm, to Mazars, right? Basically, the exact same lawsuit was filed by the president against Deutsche Bank, to block the subpoena to them too, to stop Deutsche Bank from handing over his financial records as well. That case will have its oral arguments in court the day after tomorrow. Boom.
While many Americans have grown frustrated over the past two years about the perception that Trump has gotten off scot-free, his luck appears to have run out since Democrats have taken over the House of Representatives.
Over the past few months, Democrats have used their subpoena power as a way to get documents and testimony that the president has refused to turn over.
While Trump continues to act as a lawless dictator by defying Congress and refusing to hand over these records, the courts are reminding him that he isn’t the authoritarian ruler he wishes to be.
The question is no longer if Trump’s financial secrets will be revealed to the public, but when they’ll be revealed to the public.
