House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler said in a statement provided to PoliticusUSA, “Today, I am pleased to announce Hope Hicks will appear before the Committee for a transcribed interview. It is important to hear from Ms. Hicks, who was a key witness for the Special Counsel. Ms. Hicks understands that the Committee will be free to pose questions as it sees fit, including about her time on the Trump Campaign and her time in the White House. Should there be a privilege or other objection regarding any question, we will attempt to resolve any disagreement while reserving our right to take any and all measures in response to unfounded privilege assertions. We look forward to her testimony and plan to make the transcript promptly available to the public.”
Barr agreed to turn over documents when he was threatened with a full contempt vote. Hope Hicks has agreed to appear before the Judiciary Committee. Trump is losing in court. The Democratic strategy of slowly chipping away at Trump’s stonewalling and obstruction of Congress is working. Democrats are getting the information that they need in order to move forward with an impeachment investigation, while it would have been nice to see Hicks testify in public, the most important thing is that the committee gets the information.
Nadler has also hinted that former special counsel Robert Mueller will be subpoenaed soon.
It is all coming together for Democrats. Many Americans want instant results, but Democrats are gathering information and building the case for impeachment. The House is moving toward impeachment, and each witness that agrees to appear is another step toward justice.
