Voters in swing states won’t vote for Trump due to healthcare

The PPP Poll found:

A new Public Policy Polling survey finds that an overwhelming majority of voters in battleground states(Florida, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin)would not consider voting for a presidential candidate who supports even one of the major pieces of Trump’s agenda on health care–whether it be eliminating health care protections for people with preexisting conditions, cutting funding for Medicare, or letting let insurance companies stop covering the costs of prescription drugs. It’s not just that they oppose the agenda, voters say they won’t support a candidate who embraces it.

– If a candidate for President supports plans that let insurance companies stop covering the costs of prescription drugs, 77% of voters say they would not consider voting for them, with only 10% saying they would consider voting for such a candidate.

– 73% of voters say they would not consider voting for a candidate who proposes a budget that includes $845 billion in cuts to Medicare;

– 72% would not consider voting for a presidential candidate who supports plans that eliminate health care protections for people with preexisting conditions.

Healthcare looks like the dominant issue of the 2020 election

Trump is reviving his efforts to make healthcare a 2020 campaign issue. Republicans are warning him to stay away from healthcare, and if he runs on healthcare, it could cost him dearly in critical swing states. Impeachment is a low priority for voters, but healthcare is a solid number one. If this election is about healthcare, Donald Trump is going to lose. Voters remember his efforts to repeal Obamacare and take health insurance away from 20 million Americans.

If Trump runs on healthcare, Democrats are going to in a prime position to take back the White House and Senate next year.
