Mitch McConnell Gives America The Middle Finger By Vowing To Fill Any SCOTUS Seat In The Last Year Of Trump’s Term

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell blocked Obama’s SCOTUS pick but has vowed to fill any open Supreme Court seat in the last year-plus of Trump’s term.

McConnell told Hugh Hewitt:

The talk of filling any open Supreme Court seat stems from the health of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

McConnell made up a bunch of reasons for blocking Obama Supreme Court nominee Merrick Garland that was completely bogus. The Senate Majority Leader admitted in May 2019 that his reason for blocking Garland was a lie. McConnell is already making plans to block future Democratic Supreme Court nominees.

The vast majority of the discussion about the state of American politics and the broken governing process is centered around Donald Trump, but an equally large part of the problem is Mitch McConnell. Taking back the Senate majority is not going to be enough for Democrats. If McConnell is still in the Senate after the 2020, Democrats will need to rethink the Senate rules if they win back the majority.

Mitch McConnell will return to his role of obstructionist in chief if Democrats keep the current Senate rules.

There are two cancers in American politics right now. Getting rid of Trump is step one, and removing McConnell should be 1.b.
