I keep thinking the GOP is doing what they’re doing because they have no fear of voter reprisals . My fear is there won’t be more elections coming up— or if there are they will be rigged.

Maga lives in a maga induced circle jerk. Watch any replay of the "magadon" house staff meetings where they ALL suck up to curry favor with their cult leader. "Oh you are so huge, wonderful, great, fantastic, BS, BS, and more BS." It is really hard for most "normal" people to even watch. Magas really think that Grandma and Grandpa will gladly give up anything and everything to orangeblob. However, based on recent elections and polling, I think they are dead wrong.

We The People have given a whoopin' to Elon Muskrat via Boycotts around the World. This means we can get to ANY other BS billionaire. I say we "tee up" Bezos, Zuckerberg and that dude from Google Pichai. Spread the word to dump anything and everything Amagon, Facelessbook and Droogle to see if we can't send them packin' along with their F'ing magayachts too.

Well, it blows any informed person's mind that the Dems and most of their followers don't recognize that the mid-terms will be rigged to the hilt by the Republicans. Every Dem win will be aggressively contested, should they even happen, and dragged through the courts, which appear now to be powerless against Trump's Reich Wing. America is now officially a Banana Republic aka Shithole country aka Russia.

I will say it again. Without the US Constitution there is NO United States. This mean's all Blue States need a Plan B NOW for the fall of the US Constitution. A "BlueExit" if it comes to that. I have been telling Newsom's staff in California that they need Plan B since last November. At first they thought I was "off" but lately they are not so dismissive.

California is now the 4th largest economy in the World and California sends a net of about $70 Billion to Washington DC each year because of their economy. Texas and Florida withdraw about $70 Billion from Washington DC each year; without California both those states would have been broke years ago.

The Senate will end up caving just like the House did. We kept hearing that numerous House 'pubs were against this horrendous giveaway to the rich (for various reasons) but, in the end they rolled over to dictator trump. Sad. Every last one of them should be voted out if we ever have another fair and free election.

I agree that the Senate will fall into the trickle down sewer as well led by Susan Collins. However, We The People need to keep up the pressure with Resistance, Marching, and Boycotts. We need to plan now for American Work Stop Day(s). We also need to Plan for a "BlueExit" of the Democratic States if the Constitution is killed. Buckle up and keep your powder dry.

I really get tired of the phrase “raise taxes on the rich” being used instead of just stating they they will be required to pay their taxes at the same rate as every other citizen in this nation. The rich use and take advantage of all that cost our nation trillions to upkeep at a much higher rate than the rest of the population combined and they have gotten away with way too many tax breaks and loopholes that aren’t available to those who are in much higher need of more money to just survive.. let alone THRIVE, which these bastard republicans want to make certain nobody except them and the richest ever do. I’m just to the point where I can easily say that I hate every last republicans guts in politics especially, and wish they’d all drop dead.. Watching them suffer first would be preferable but I’d forego that for a speedy funeral for the entire fucking bunch of these wicked criminals.

It's the total opposite of here in Australia, where the government just reduced the lowest tax rate from 18% to 16% because that benefits everyone equally, and is particularly helpful to people on lower incomes.

Last year our government also revamped the entire tax rate system so every taxpayer got a tax cut - every one.

Contrasts with Trump giving big tax cuts to the rich while raising taxes for the bottom 20% of taxpayers.

These aren't the actions of a political party that fears a backlash in an election. Trump, aided by the Republicans and oligarchs, has set fire to America and destroyed the federal government. No one does that if they are afraid of losing power. When Trump wasn't held accountable for any of his criminal actions in his first rodeo, even with 4 years of a Democratic DOJ, he knew he could run wild. What do you think Musk was doing inside the federal computer systems? His snot-nosed punks were inside the most protected files in a nanosecond. What about state computers? They have 4 years of no accountability before the next national election to tamper with those. How many of those fake electors from 2020 are serving time? If Trump cannot manage to stop future elections with a bogus national emergency declaration, he'll make sure that the election doesn't matter. America has joined the ranks of the banana republics. Doesn't it feel like we lost a war and are being punished? We even look like one with all of that tacky gold shit in the Oval Office, a big military parade planned, and now a flying palace for Dear Leader.

Agreed. Americans are overconfident when it comes to our democracy, so sure that the bad things that happen elsewhere would never happen here. I don't think "We the People" are going to rise up, and it will fall on the shoulders of our grandchildren. I'm a '60s & '70s protester, and I am stunned that Americans didn't fill the streets when Elon first began shutting down agencies. Civil disobedience works, but it's not easy or painless. These polite protests on weekends will change nothing, and the shock of what Trump has done in the first 100 days has already worn off. I feel like I am living in the Twilight Zone.

Definitely, the way to stop the oligarchs is to cost them $$$$. I think that Musk was shocked to discover how deeply he is hated. There is nothing he can do to fix his image now. We live in Austin now...when Musk first moved here, he expected to be instantly part of the "cool kids club." Austin is the home of a multitude of cool musicians, artists, writers, energy innovators, etc, who live here because they aren't treated like celebrities. They can lead normal lives but they also tend to be ultra-liberal and want nothing to do with someone like Musk. So he decided he'd build his own compound and no one cared. Then, Musk had to piss off the entire planet and will now be a leper for the rest of his life.

There are lots of us out here concerned about whether there will be elections in 2026 or 2028... On the one hand, people are asking "who's running?" and on the other people are saying "what elections?"

I don't believe, and it is strictly my opinion, that shutting down this country is going to be that easy or that fast... I could be wrong, but everything we do here is dragged out and dragged around and I don't expect that the mid-terms or anything else is going to be any different.

Declaring Martial Law and suspending habeas Corpus is not quite the "bing, bang, botta boom" that the trumpettes want us to believe. And there are people who are watching around the clock for anything that comes out of the white house to get injunctions and such.

"We the unwilling, led by the gaslighting, are trying to save our Democracy, from the ungrateful hateful, using anything we can!"

It is difficult at best, but we still have time, there are still arrows in the quiver, and the archers are still standing! WE need to keep doing what we are doing and believe that "right" will prevail!

I have always tried to be an optimist. But here's the deal : A few years ago we endured the Big Freeze here in Texas where around 700 Texans froze to death. And while people were dying from the brutal cold, our senator abandoned his constituents for the sunny climes of the Caribbean. Then in this last election cycle Texans had the opportunity to rid themselves of this asshole. Instead, they reelected this creep.

What's my point?? Voters are just too fickle to figure out how they will ever vote. And then they reelected another asshole for the presidency. Voters simply cannot be trusted.

Ever so true... that's where "WE" all come into this equation. WE cannot expect our DEMS and INDS to sell the idiots in our country who vote by the sparkles in their eyes on why they are voting against their own interests. WE have to be out there selling the truth that the DEMS aren't the devil, as said by TN Brando quite often where he lives.

It has to be presented by neighbor to neighbor, town council to city, county commissioners to county, and state legislators to the State. If WE do not get involved and help sell the truth to this idiots who don't do any research and only remember the last ad they saw before voting, then we may lose. So WE who are active will need to BE active all the way through - volunteer at your local DNC office. Work phone banks, go door to door once the campaign season starts.

DNC is working hard right now, so if you can volunteer in your community, then get in touch with them, see what you can do. We have to take back our Country from the bottom up - not just Congress - but all the boards, mayors, council people, district boards, school boards, library boards, water boards, recreational boards, city planning boards, county commissioners, sheriffs, county election boards, state legislators, AGs, Sec of State, Governors and everything else in between.

But we ARE NOT the Germans in the 1930's. America is NOT Germany! We are a much bigger country with 347 million people - it is a lot harder to "take over" that many people in this large a country. So, we'll see. They aren't making as much progress as they make it sound like. We are all still free today.

We can write in this substack - if we weren't free, this would not be possible - We can go get in our car and drive pretty much anywhere in this country and not get stopped and asked for "papers!" We can go to work, work that job, or quit that job and find another one. We can move from one State to the next - no one is going to stop us.

We are under attack - yes we are! Be we aren't anywhere near being Beat. We have NOT Lost! We are Not Victims! And this is still a free country overall. We need to come at it from that perspective - not the "we have already lost, now how do we put it all back together!"

Yes, a large number of things have been crashed and burned. But we can recover those things - will it take time? Yes! But we can still talk to each other and move about freely and so we are here to fight another day!
