Speaker Mike Johnson spent the five-week House summer break roaming around the United States, appointing himself co-president, and trying to scare the daylights out of Republican voters with claims that if Democrats win the House, they will investigate the Trump family.

One of the biggest problems that some House Republicans have with Johnson’s speakership is how he has completely rolled over for Trump and abandoned the power of the House to legislate.
The reason why there have been a record number of successful discharge petitions is that a group of frustrated Republicans has joined with Democrats to move legislation in an effort to try to get things done.
Some House Republicans seem to realize that they are facing a blowout midterm election, and they are trying to save their jobs, while confronted with a Speaker of the House who views his job as turning over his power to Donald Trump.
With the House back in session this week, and then potentially out of session for the rest of the month, Johnson held his weekly press conference, where he responded to a question with such a terrible answer that it should cost him his job and the Republicans their majority.
