We have to be ready and stopping everything that the MAGAs are working on to rig the next election or try to stop it if they see that they are going to lose. Gerrymandering is only one tool in their toolbox. Elections are run by the States, so we in each State need to get involved in our elections at the local level. We need to ensure that what is going on in our state is not going to give anyone an edge.

Gerrymandering has been around for decades. It isn’t something new. And both parties have used it st sometime. Democrats need to be more active in their messaging and campaigning. We need to be more definitive about who we are as a party. We need to share those values more than considering what the republicans are up to. Define our “brand” so to speak. What value we bring to the country?

This is a perfect example of the normalization of behavior that in the long run harm us. For some reason we have accepted the “ whatever it takes to win “ approach into our national mindset. Wrong is wrong.

It won't matter because DJT is the worst president and the crap that the Republicans assisted him in getting away with, we cannot let that happen ever again. God bless 🇺🇸

I abhor the fact that some voters votes really don't count because of where they live! That is NOT democracy. Gerrymandering needs to be banned.

If we have free and fair elections in 2026 the Republican Party could end up like the dinosaurs. They have proven that they do not care about the American people. They have bent the knee and won’t be able to get back up.

After every election things get undone, look at President Biden’s push for a better infrastructure through out the country. There was no favoritism towards a Blue State or Red State, it was for the United States. Unlike Trump who does all he can to Not help the Blue States. The present regime only cares about themselves and the money they can get for themselves. A sitting president is not supposed to use the presidency to make money for himself and his family, actually it may be illegal but whether something is illegal or not doesn’t matter to him.

That's a very big "if"...they are well-aware of how unpopular their policies are. Not even their own constituents' well-being matters, as demonstrated by their BBB. Why would they go to these extremes, serving no one but their corporate masters if it could be undone by an election?

Gerrymandering is something to worry about of course, but much more threatening is that the treasonous Trump-GOP-Project 2025 cabal will create the conditions to actually cancel or indefinitely postpone the mid-terms based on fabricated reasons of course... ie martial law, national security, investigations into voting this or voting that etc

--- All media does America a great disservice by never talking about this.---

The belief that it can't happen is the height of jingoistic American mental retardation.

The LAST thing these subhumans want are the mid-terms because now it's not only Donnie's head that'll roll in the Great Purge, but also those of many of his criminal facilitators.

We have to fight back and not assume it will go the democrats way to win the house back! We have to be vicious with this gerrymandering fight with the subservient Republicans and do what’s good for the democratic’s districts and draw lines for democrats to easily go and vote to gain the house back, because, if we don’t this country will be in deeper shit than we already are with no check & balance with this corrupt regime in the executive branch that holds power against the subservient republicans in house & senate and democrats should flip some senate seats too!

It is comical that republicans blame democrats for gerrymandering . In red States like mine, FL, republicans gerrymander as often as possible to keep out black districts. Yes I know both parties do it but I believe that Dems want to keep the black vote rather than do away with it. If Republicans were not so afraid of the black vote going against them they would not need to keep those voters out so to speak. With all the horrible stuff that's going on in the country today with a republican majority, it would make sense if the house did not keep the majority. I wish I was physically able to be out there knocking on doors and filling the streets with my protest.

Would Republicans allow an independent board to redraw districts that would not benefit either party?

But the most wired-in Republicans privately concede that they’re not going to win the midterms through redistricting efforts alone. Operative word: "alone." If at first you worry Democrats might win, CHEAT!

The good news is that voting and civil rights attorney Marc Elias and his legal team along with the ACLU are going to litigate every single gerrymandering and voter suppression stunt the Republicans pull in Federal court. Mark Elias and his law firm are one of the best civil litigation legal teams in the country. They have won 93% of all the lawsuits that they have filed in Federal court over voting rights and civil liberties. The Repubs are screwed!

If the Republicans want to play the gerrymandering and redistricting game then so will the Democrats which many Democratic Governors are now planning to do so. They along with Governor Newsom of deep blue California now realize that they have to fight fire with fire. With California which has 54 electoral votes compared to Texas with 40 electoral votes in which the Texas Republicans can only get 5 new congressional seats if they redistrict in their state. Meanwhile Newsome thinks he could get up to 15 new democratic congressional seats in unredistricted areas if he decides to gerrymander and redistrict California. Since the Democratic governors in the past have rarely used redistricting to make new congressional districts in their blue states that leaves a great opportunity for them to significantly increase the number of democratic districts and by contrast the Republicans have overused their redistricting powers so much in the past that anymore gerrymandering and redistricting would disenfranchise their own Republican voters especially in Texas and other overly redistricted red states.
