Republicans are refusing to negotiate with Democrats to fund the government, which means that the GOP is following Trump's directions and will be blamed for a shutdown.
No one wants a government shutdown because many hardworking people suffer. However, the GOP pushed through the Big, Beautiful Bill without any Democratic input. Now it’s time for the Democrats to use the limited power they possess to claw back the most odious cuts the GOP implemented to give the wealthiest among us greater tax cuts. If necessary, shut it down!
And a great many of those hardworking people who will suffer voted for this. The rest of us are already caught in the crossfire chaos of this shit show. The only way they may learn and understand what we mean when we’ve been telling them for years to stop voting against their own best interests is if it hits them hard enough and long enough.
I don't know. I think I do want a shutdown. I am sorry for the innocent non-asshole voting people who will be hurt. But i absolutely LOVE every time this regime does something and the MAGat voters who are suddenly noticing that these things hur them start their whining. I am disabled and dependent on Social Security to pay my bills inclusive of my mortgage. I say this with all the bass in my throat: shut the mother fucker down!!!! These assholes cannot continue to do what they’re doing with impunity and no opposition. I am the definition of hurt behind this, but I’ll be even more hurt if something doesn’t give.

What option is there, when you know the other side is operating in bad faith and will just pull the rug out from underneath you before the ink is dry? Accept nothing less than full restoration of Obamacare subsidies and Medicaid cuts. If not, shut it the fuck down.
It’s a brutal thing to have to do. At least furloughed employees get back pay I think, but many contractors working for the government lose out. And innocent people who didn’t vote for this nightmare may not receive SS checks or other benefits on time depending how long it lasts. All that said, it’s the only leverage the Dems have at this point so I think they need to use it. Desperate times call for desperate measures. And the Republicans need to own this.
A shutdown is drastic and would not happen if members of Congress didn't get paid--but they do. Thousands of federal employees get furloughed, but Representatives and Senators continue to get paid. If the law gets changed so they get treated like all other government employees, I bet there would never be a threat of a shutdown. Since the GOP refuses to even talk to the Democrats, it proves they are not competent to govern. If there is a shutdown, it's on the GOP's back, and they will lie like hell to blame the Democrats.
I don't think it would change them if they didn't get paid either during a shutdown because many/most are well off enough that missing paychecks won't hurt them, pretty sure no one in congress is living paycheck to paycheck.. they all seem to make a lot of money in a job they whine doesn't pay enough

The next phase must include flipping the house and senate, followed by impeachment a d prosecution of those elected and appointed that have continuously committed violations of the law! Any incarcerations should include stays at El Salvador, Uganda and Alligator Aushwitz!
