NBC’s Kristen Welker is one of Trump’s favorites to grant mainstream interviews to, because Welker doesn’t worship Trump like Fox News and Newsmax, but she also doesn’t push back too hard on anything.
The Sunday shows and mainstream media survive on access, so part of the game is that they don’t push back too hard.

These media personalities seem to have a primary rule of never burning any bridges, but the Trump/Republican excuse of blaming Joe Biden for the economy and inflation was something that even Welker felt the need to push back on during an interview with Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) on Meet The Press.
Welker asked Scott:
Senator, I’m talking about costs. And American families are also paying more in the wake of President Trump’s taxes and tariffs. In fact, Senator Susan Collins of Maine said this. “If the administration proceeds with these tariffs, they will increase costs for Maine families as most businesses will have no choice but to pass on the tariffs to their customers through higher prices.” Is she right, particularly given that we have seen that in the past, given the president’s tariffs?
Scott answered by blaming Biden, “Well, Kristen, you’re talking about a really important issue of cost. Let’s look back at the original sin of costs in America in the last eight years. It goes to Joe Biden who took inflation--”
Welker responded, “Wait, President Trump has been in office for two years.”
Scott kept trying to blame Biden for Trump’s economy.
