There is one slight difference. When the Democrats wanted to pass something it was because it was good for the people. When the GOP wants to pass something it is only good for Thump and his billionaire friends.

At some point, if we can’t get along and convince them of the error of their ways, it’s all going to fall apart. Attacking and abuse of power will haunt them in the near future. This is all very sad. I say let’s be like the European Union. Each state becomes a country. If we keep going, we’ll all be behind bars.

If I understand you correctly, I would have to disagree with your assessment of how we move forward. But let me clarify. Are you suggesting that Senate democrats should do more to try to get along with Republican senators? Are you thinking that it is possible for Democrats to somehow reform the GOP through their actions or conversations?

Expand full comment
Debbie Hencke's avatar

I wish. No I’m not thinking it’s possible that they get along but the more they try to be honest and hold them accountable for the destruction of our government, I have hope they’ll see the truth about what is happening. Not until the 2026 election do I think there’s any hope. But investigations help - like the recent trading before announcements by Trump.

Debbie Hencke's avatar

Then there’s the prosecution of dems…I want the states to take action against Trump - keep those wealthy law firms he made deals with busy. Personally, I can’t understand why he’s not charged with treason. There’s a whole bunch (Project 2025), DOGE, that should be held accountable and charged with treason for destroying our freedoms, SS, medical care, weather, international safety, etc.

Expand full comment
Karen Mortensen's avatar

We are going to have to hold the perpetrators accountable and punish them for their lawlessness, treachery and treason. Right now if we bring suits against the government or its agents, the US government has to defend it/them. So our tax dollars would have to pay to fight the charges. Talk about waste and abuse. All the 100+ cases the government is fighting... That's our money being used to fight back. And many of us are donating to the nonprofits bringing the legal suits. So we're paying both ways! That's not at all what bothers me the most, but the irony is sharp indeed.

Debra Van Houten's avatar

I too have wondered why treason has not been prosecuted. He so clearly aligns with an enemy of the United States AGAINST an ally at a time of WAR. Is it the strategy of suing and threatening and spinning and graft and corruption that keeps those with credentials to pursue treason unable to focus on doing so? Enlighten me please.

I understand. Blunt honesty from Democrats is important. No polishing the pig. And I know they are recording as much as they can and trying to hold the MAGA party accountable. But yeah, the true power of the House Oversight committee won't be ours until we win back the House. I understand there's a website called oversightdemocrats.house.gov where the dems on the committee are tracking the actions they've taken.

Indeed, Debbie clarified what she meant. Because yeah, we tried to get along with the GOP gangsters for years, and it never got us anywhere. The GOP is simply the MAGA party now, and they don't play fair. We have to play hardball and unsheath the claws.

Keep it up Dems! This is what happened during the presidential race. MSM had a 24/7/365 orange bloviating buffoon happy hour. Biden was lucky to get five minutes a day. It was disgusting. If they had showed Biden doing the job he would have won hands-down. America will never elect a woman president in my lifetime and I have 30 years max to go.

The media loves "Crooks, Liars, Perverts, Dirty Laundry, Blood, Train Wreaks, and Chaos." It is what bumps algorithms, ratings, and clicks. Biden was a Nice Elderly Gentleman that was doing boring "Government" work. Hillary and Kamala both tried to warn us about the orange felon pervert, but the media took the poison bait of "her emails", falsely predicted a recession for the past 4 years then went all in on the Price of EGGS.

All Democrats must be Self Promoters from this point forward and stay on topic like Fuxx noise. Fuxx noise still brings up Hillary emails to this day to keep beating that drum. If it is good for Fuxx noise, we need to do the same. Daily Follow Ups of the magat dirty past going back to decades if we have to via this outlet, other outlets or via Pod casts.

In addition to being self promoters, Dems need to build a media ecosystem as powerful as the current mainstream/corporate media. Saying stuff loud and proud isn’t very effective without the infrastructure to distribute the messages to a large, diverse audience in real time, and like you mentioned, repeat repeat repeat. It’s going to be very difficult , Dems basically have to play offense and defense simultaneously. We have to promote our accomplishments and truth counter the lies they spew effectively when playing defense with only half a team. I’m worried that ecosystem won’t be developed in time for the midterms, and voter turnout will be abysmal. Musk and Zuckerberg, who control the 3 largest social media platforms in our country, are actively supporting fascism while repressing truth and the voices. And if TFG actually gets his hands on TikTock, we’re truly screwed.

I agree with you about needing a robust media ecosystem for the left. That's critical, and I think we're on our way with just what I see here on Substack. Especially with more outlets making use of its video and podcasting capabilities. I also agree that we won't be at the capacity we will ultimately need by the time we get to midterms. However, Trump and his feckless regime are doing such a lousy job across the board that I don't think having a dearth of progressive media by then will be a problem.

I strongly disagree about the potential of a low voter turnout among Dems come 2026. Dems are absolutely furious and they are itching to get rid of these MAGA boobs. Look how MAGA's unpopularity drove huge numbers of dems to the polls in Wisconsin and Florida. In WI, the point spread was 10 pts, which is very unusual there. And in both special elections in FL, dems gained about 15 points vs the 2024 presidential election. And remember the special election in Pennsylvania before that? Dems gained a significant number of pts over the 2024 race.

If we can hold onto our damn voting rights by blocking the SAVE Act in the Senate (and we'd better see a healthy democratic filibuster on that piece of filthy legislation), we should be looking pretty good by the midterms. I think we'll get the House back, no problem. The Senate may even be in play, despite the numbers, if MAGA is even more unpopular by then. We could be looking at possible democratic wins in the Senate in 4 states that either lean red or are fairly strongly red. 🤞

Here we go again, as rombo reagan kept saying. The republicans can dish it out but they sure can't take it can they? It's about time the Dems. use the same tactics that have kept their policies from being enacted through the years. Obama could have gotten more done but for the tactics and NO's from the repubs. The same for the Biden years. He got more done than most in spite of the NO's from the repubs. and it still didn't get reported fairly. Let tRUMP keep failing & we can enjoy the downfall as it happens. Problem is, we are going down with him with these tariffs.
