The White House has been open about its motives for having the DOJ investigate Rep. Ilhan Omar so close to the midterm election. Trump is attempting to give his MAGA supporters a distraction that will take their attention off of the economy and his many failures.

While Trump voters don’t seem to be inspired, Trump has managed to fire up voters in Minnesota.
Minnesota AG Keith Ellison was asked by Rev. Al Sharpton on his Politics Nation MS NOW program how troubled he was by the administration’s investigation of Omar.
Ellison said:
It is as troubling as it gets, because it's very clear that this is nothing other than persecution. It is political persecution based on her criticism of the president, based on her ethnicity as a Somali person, based on her status as an immigrant to our country who has come to this nation and distinguished herself in a multitude of ways, including being our representative of the 5th Congressional District.
This could not be more concerning when it comes to intimidating people. Look, if you are a Somali person or Mexican or a Haitian or any ethnic background, all have been targets of Donald Trump, and people are thinking that, "If they can do this to her, what can they do to me, who's not in Congress at all?"
Well, it has an intimidating, chilling effect on people, but it's having the opposite effect in Minnesota because right now we... I just walked into a room full of folks in Rochester, Minnesota, who can't wait to get out there and knock doors and campaign and get the vote out. So he's just helping motivate us around here. Our sister Ilhan will be strong and stand up to this. We will stand by her.
Trump, of course, never saw this backfire coming.
