Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) made it crystal clear to CBS News. She is not running for president in 2016.

Video:

According to CBS News:

“A Fighting Chance” was written two years into her first term — like the autobiography from a Senator named Barack Obama in 2006.

“Some people will see this as, you know, ‘The Audacity of a Fighting Chance,'” Strassmann said. “Are you writing this book because you’re at least still considering running for president in 2016?”

“I’m not running for president,” Warren said.

“So there’s no way you’re going to run in 2016?”

“I’m not running for president. You can ask it lots of different ways. But I wrote this book because we can’t wait longer. It’s written out of gratitude for my start and the opportunities that America built for me, and how I think that’s what we’ve got to do again. I’m committed to that.”

Warren has stated on three occasions that she is not running, and she has signed a letter from the female Democrats in the Senate that urged Hillary Clinton to run.

Sen. Warren isn’t putting together a presidential campaign organization. She has shown no signs of running in 2016. Frankly, Sen. Warren wouldn’t defeat former Sec. of Clinton in a national Democratic primary, and presence is badly needed in the U.S. Senate.

I also doubt that Sen. Warren would be Hillary Clinton’s running mate. The geography doesn’t work. Democrats are already strong in the north and the east. Adding Sen. Warren brings nothing extra to the possible ticket. It is more likely that if Hillary Clinton is the Democratic nominee she will choose a popular Democrat from a red state. It would also be likely that she could select a Hispanic running mate.

However, It is easy to  see Sen. Warren occupying a high cabinet position in a possible new Clinton administration. It is also possible that Warren will quickly rise through the ranks of Senate leadership. While many on the left would like to see a challenge to Hillary Clinton in the 2016 primary, putting one of the party’s fasting rising stars in such a lose-lose situation wouldn’t be best for both Warren and the Democratic Party.

Sen. Warren’s time is coming, but she is making it clear that it wont be in 2016 against Hillary Clinton.
