The Republican Party has some kind of magnetic pull for the repulsive, the sick, the deranged, and the stupid. Here to prove that is your Senate Minority Leader, Mitch McConnell (R-KY), who is trailing in the latest Republican poll against his Democratic challenger Alison Lundergan Grimes.
How to get more people on his side? Oh, how about hosting a huge fundraiser last Tuesday for six-term incumbent Republican Mississippi Senator Thad Cochran who — during a campaign speech no less — “joked that he would spend time as a kid ‘doing all sorts of indecent things with animals.'”
Oh? Do tell, Senator. Please.
Just days ago at an National Republican Senate Committee briefing, Politico reported “senior staff told a packed room of more than 50 in-house and contract lobbyists that McConnell is ‘all-in’ on the race (Cochran’s race)…”
Senator McConnell must be proud to have just raised $825,000 for Senator Cochran of indecent things to animals infamy. Cochran counts McConnell as a “good friend” who is helpful.
“He’s a good friend,” Cochran said according to the AP via GulfLive.com. “He’s been helpful to me. He helps us get problems solved for the state of Mississippi.”
Maybe it’s time to ask what “all-in” means in this context.
Is Mitch McConnell all-in on the indecent things to animals? Childhood cruelty to animals is one sign of troubling emotional issues. It’s included in many assessment questions for a reason. The Republican Party should denounce this kind of sickness, but we all know they won’t. Mitch McConnell will pal around with the indecent things to animals guy and the party will stay “all-in”, especially after the Cantor disaster.
The Republican Party seems to have an animal problem this season (see McConnell’s defeated Tea Party challenger Matt Bevin and cockfighting).
Cochran is fighting off a Tea Party challenge from conservative state Senator Chris McDaniel in the June 24 runoff.
