Republican Presidential Candidates Offer Nothing But Prayer for Victims and Their Families

In the wake of yet another mass shooting, this time at a San Bernardino facility that works with developmentally disabled people, Republican presidential candidates offered nothing but platitudes of prayer for victims and their families:

Not a week has gone by during President Obama’s second term without a mass shooting, according to data complied by the Washington Post.

None of the Republican candidates have offered any kind of policy solution to address the gun violence in our country. Prayer is not enough. Offering prayers for victims and their families is a pathetic way to dodge the Republicans’ refusal to even contemplate responsible gun laws. Every single Democrat running for president wants to address gun laws in varying degrees, with Martin O’Malley out front, Hillary Clinton saying she would use a combination of executive action and legislation, and Bernie Sanders agrees that we need to do something.

The public agrees that we need to do something.

House Republicans won’t even allow a vote on a bill to keep known terrorists and those on the terrorists watch list from having legal access to assault weapons.

Meanwhile, literally in the middle of the San Bernardino shooting, there was another shooting in Texas at a woman’s health clinic. But Republicans wouldn’t dare get on the wrong side of the corporate lobbyists at the NRA.
