Hillary Clinton delivered a speech that was magnificent in both acknowledging the historic moment while wrecking Donald Trump.
Video:
Clinton began her speech by talking about the women’s suffrage movement and said that her victory belongs to all of the women who have fought for women’s rights. Clinton thanked her campaign, supporters, and voters.
Later, Clinton said, “As your president, I will always have your back.” She congratulated Sen. Bernie Sanders on his extraordinary campaign and said that the Sanders campaign and the debate inspired have been very good for the Democratic Party and America. Clinton sympathized with Sanders supporters and reminded everyone that she was in their shoes in 2008. She emphasized the beliefs that she shares with Sen. Sanders and his supporters. Clinton said, “We believe that we are stronger together, and the stakes in this election are clear.”
Clinton moved on to ripping Trump to shreds. She said, “He’s not just trying to build a wall between America and Mexico. He’s trying to wall of Americans from each other. When he says, let’s make America great again that is code for let’s take America backwards. Back to a time when opportunity and dignity were reserved for some, not all. Promising his supporters an economy that he cannot recreate. We, however, want to write the next chapter in American greatness with a 21st Century prosperity that lifts everyone who has been left out and left behind. Including those who may not vote for us, but who deserve their chance to make a new beginning.”
Hillary Clinton laid out a vision for America that should unify every American, who rejects the language and tactics of Trump. Clinton’s message was one of togetherness that was the opposite of what Trump is campaigning on. Clinton made it clear throughout her speech that the history that was made was not about her, but about the future. She said, “The end of the primaries is only the beginning of the work that we were called to do.”
Clinton delivered a historic speech that flirted with perfection, and that made the teleprompter fumbling Donald Trump look like the racist amateur that he is.
