The good news keeps coming for Democrats. Hillary Clinton is moving closer to 50% support, while the Donald Trump campaign remains flat in a new poll.
According to the latest Suffolk University/USA Today poll:
Democrat Hillary Clinton leads Republican Donald Trump by 7 points nationwide, according to a Suffolk University/USA Today poll of voters likely to cast ballots in the November presidential election. Clinton (48 percent) led Trump (41 percent), with 9 percent undecided in the two-way ballot test.
In a four-way scenario that includes Libertarian Gary Johnson and Green Party nominee Jill Stein, Clinton maintained a 7-point advantage, 42 percent to Trump’s 35 percent; Johnson was at 9 percent; Stein, 4 percent; with 10 percent undecided.
…
Clinton led Trump 54 percent to 38 percent among women, 92 percent to 4 percent among African-American voters and 65 percent to 24 percent among Hispanic voters. She was ahead in the Northeast 58 percent to 34 percent and in the West 52 percent to 37 percent.
The good news for Democrats is that Hillary Clinton is close to breaking 50% support nationally. The bad news for Republicans is that Donald Trump is not gaining any support. Trump is running the same campaign that he ran during the Republican primary, so it is not a surprise that he has not picked up any new support with voters.
As his immigration “policy” speech demonstrated, Trump is content to play to his base of support, but that base isn’t big enough to win the general election.
The media keeps trying to find new horserace angles to try to make the current election looking closely competitive, but the 2016 presidential election has settled into a pattern of consistency. Hillary Clinton is maintaining a 5-10 point lead, while Donald Trump is making up zero ground.
Time is running out for Republicans. Donald is running for president as an expert deal maker, but the polls are showing that it is Hillary Clinton who is closing the deal with American voters.
