President Obama called out Donald Trump for being an insecure man who is unfit to occupy the Oval Office.
Video:
The President said:
One of the most disturbing things about this election is just the unbelievable rhetoric coming from the top of the Republican ticket. I don’t need to repeat it. They’re children in the room. But demeaning women, degrading women, but also minorities, immigrants, people of other faiths, mocking the disabled, insulting our troops, insulting our veterans.
That tells you a couple of things. That tells you that he’s insecure enough that he pumps himself up by putting other people down. Not a character trait that I would advise for somebody in the Oval Office. It tells you that he doesn’t care very much about the basic values that we try to impart to our kids. It tells you he’d be careless with the civility and respect that real and vibrant democracy requires, and it sure as heck tells you that he’s never met anybody as tough or smart or patriotic as Tammy Duckworth. If you want to see leadership, that’s the kind of leadership you’ve got to look for.
The President was sending a loud and clear message to the voters that he believes that Donald Trump isn’t fit to hold the office of the presidency.
The reasons that Obama laid out were interesting because they stressed a part of the job that gets overlooked in most elections. The president is a role model. The president comes into the homes of the American people every single day for four years.
Children see and hear how the president behaves.
Voters need to ask themselves if they want the children in their family getting their moral cues from Donald Trump.
President Obama knows what it takes to lead this country, and he is telling the American people that Donald Trump doesn’t have it.
