Classless Rep. Darrell Issa Flips Off a Female Reporter When Asked About Comey Memo

Donald Trump is not bringing out the best in Republicans, but he is forcing them to show their true colors.

And so it is that Darrell Issa gave Rachael Bade of Politico the middle finger when she asked him about James Comey’s note, which as reported indicated that President Trump interfered in the investigation into his ties to Russia by asking Comey to stop investigating Flynn.

“I just asked @DarrellIssa abt the Comey news and he flicked me off — literally gave me the middle finger — and kept walking. Said nothing.”

There’s nothing like flipping off a female reporter in defense of a President who bragged on tape about grabbing p*ssy to really show Republican family values at work.

Republicans are running away from reporters:

Conservative David Frum wondered about Republicans in Congress today, asking “Who are they?”

This is who they are. And this. They are the people enabling President Trump and thereby betraying their oath of office.

Swing Left is already collecting donations for whoever challenges Darrell Issa, noting, “In the last election, Republican Darrell Issa won CA-49 by just 1,621 votes—less than 1%. This time, we’re not waiting for the general election to heat up.”

Perhaps the Congressman and Chief Failed Investigator of Clinton doesn’t care to comment on the former FBI Director’s damaging notes. But “No comment” suffices.

What do you do when you’re a family values Representative and a female reporter asks you a question you really can’t answer because your party’s president is corrupt, crazy, inept, and basically the worst nightmare ever?

Flip her off, of course. Because class.

Update: Issa denied this happened on Twitter in a response to Rachel Bade.

Here’s Issa in 2014 showing disdain for Rep. Elijah Cummings. When Issa didn’t want to discuss something, he just cut off Cummings microphone:

Media Matters noted of Issa in 2011, “Rep. Darrell Issa’s past includes arrests for weapons charges and auto theft, suspicions of arson, and accusations of intimidation with a gun, but you’d hardly know it from the media’s recent coverage of the new chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.”

Republican denials are quite popular today. But my money is on Bade’s account. She has no reason to lie about this, and Issa has every reason to deny it and a history that shows a pattern of behaving this way toward certain people.

Update: Congressional correspondent Erica Werner saw Issa turn to Rachael and saw her react:

And Huffington Post’s Jennifer Bendery started an “I Believe Rachael Bade” hashtag.
