The investigation into potential crimes committed by the President and campaign has expanded as a grand jury has been impaneled in Washington, D.C. as part of the Russia investigation.
The Wall Street Journal reported:
Special Counsel Robert Mueller has impaneled a grand jury in Washington to investigate Russia’s interference in the 2016 elections, a sign that his inquiry is growing in intensity and entering a new phase, according to people familiar with the matter.

“This is yet a further sign that there is a long-term, large-scale series of prosecutions being contemplated and being pursued by the special counsel,” said Stephen I. Vladeck, a law professor at the University of Texas. “If there was already a grand jury in Alexandria looking at Flynn, there would be no need to reinvent the wheel for the same guy. This suggests that the investigation is bigger and wider than Flynn, perhaps substantially so.”
The grand jury does not mean that criminal charges will be filed, but it is a sign that the investigation is much bigger and involves more people that Mike Flynn. It is also another step forward in the process that could result in former members of the Trump campaign and current members of the Trump White House facing criminal charges. The investigation has gone beyond the initial review stage. It is getting real now.
Republicans and Trump can keep trying to live in a world of denial by pretending like the Russia investigation does not exist, but Robert Meuller and his grand jury are very real. The Special Counsel is hot on Trump’s trail, and it seems like only a matter of time until the real story behind how Trump won the 2016 election is revealed.
