Donald Trump is looking for a way out of the political inferno that he has caused by supporting and encouraging racists, so he has decided to fire Steve Bannon.
The New York Times reported:
President Trump has told senior aides that he has decided to remove Stephen K. Bannon, the embattled White House chief strategist who helped Mr. Trump win the 2016 election, according to two administration officials briefed on the discussion.
The president and senior White House officials were debating when and how to dismiss Mr. Bannon. The two administration officials cautioned that Mr. Trump is known to be averse to confrontation within his inner circle, and could decide to keep on Mr. Bannon for some time.
As we saw with Sean Spicer, gone really doesn’t mean gone, so Bannon may be around for weeks or months to come. Trump will most likely put Bannon in the realm that Cory Lewandowski and others occupy of being an informal Trump whisperer.

Steve Bannon’s departure might be in name and location only. Bannon and Trump are likely pulling a stunt to try to distract from the Charlottesville story. It will be worth watching how the far-right reacts. If they are fine with this, it’s likely just another bad strategic move to try to get Trump out of trouble.
If the far right freaks out, Bannon may really be gone.
